State Tax Rates and Limits

State rates and limits are essential to the payroll program. They include the state unemployment insurance rates and the maximum taxable SUI wages. The SUI rates vary for each business each year so they need to be setup at the beginning of the year or when notification has been received from the responsible state agency.. Some states have other variables such as SDI and Local Taxes that may require setup.

From the payroll screen click on the Setup drop down menu at the top of the screen.  Then click on State Rates and Limits.

Click on the appropriate year to.

Click on the appropriate state code .

 

State WH ID #  is the state withholding id number assigned by the state. Some State do not have a separate withholding number from the unemployment number. If so, it may be left blank.

State Unemp Id #  is the unemployment number assigned by the state.

SUI Rate  is the rate assigned by the state for unemployment. It is enter as a percent.

                       Example:  If the rate is .021 enter it as 2.0

Maximum Taxable SUI Wages  is the maximum amount of taxable SUI wages.

Worker’s Comp Experience Rate  Unless you have received notice otherwise leave this at 100 percent.
